Some buildings need to feel like the brand they house. For the Mushroom Group – Australia’s largest independent music and entertainment company – nothing less would do.

Prime Projects was engaged to transform the Sydney headquarters at 135 Forbes Street, Woolloomooloo, stripping two adjoining heritage buildings back to shell and merging them into a single, cohesive workspace that pulses with creative energy. Designed by Watch This Space Design, the fitout is bold, considered and unmistakably Mushroom.

The construction work was as complex as the brief was compelling. A new structural connection was forged between the two heritage buildings – a technically demanding intervention requiring sensitivity to the existing fabric and precision in execution. A passenger lift was installed. Services were entirely updated. Premium amenities were introduced throughout.

Inside, the result is extraordinary. Dedicated artist studios. A performance area and stage. A club bar. An external courtyard. Collaborative breakout spaces alongside private meeting rooms and offices – every element designed to serve the full breadth of what the Mushroom Group does.

Heritage bones. Contemporary soul. And the kind of finish that only comes from a builder who understands that in creative environments, every detail is heard.
