Macquarie University International College, North Ryde
Every year, thousands of international students arrive at Macquarie University International College (MUIC) with one goal – to build a future in Australia. The spaces that greet them matter enormously.
Prime Projects was engaged by Macquarie University to refurbish buildings E3A and E3B, transforming 2,000m² of ageing campus space into a dynamic, purpose-designed home for the Macquarie University International College. Designed by Gardner Wetherill Architects, the $5.9 million project reimagined how international students learn, connect and belong.
Traditional classrooms gave way to agile, collaborative teaching spaces tailored to MUIC’s intensive learning model. An Interactive Learning Centre encourages student interaction at every turn. A dedicated IELTS testing facility supports international certification. A central Student Services Hub weaves together formal services, staff accommodation and informal gathering – all under one roof. Outside, an upgraded courtyard provides room to breathe between sessions.
Prime Projects delivered every element with the sensitivity and precision that university environments demand – creating spaces that don’t just function, but genuinely inspire.
