Cricket has been played on Smith’s Paddock since the 1870s. The ground deserved a pavilion worthy of that history.

Prime Projects delivered the Cricketers Pavilion at Thornton Estate, North Penrith – a multi-purpose community building that honours the legacy of Sydney Smith and the heritage-rich oval that bears his family’s name, while serving the sporting and community needs of a vibrant new residential estate.

The pavilion sits at the heart of Smith’s Paddock, a ground steeped in the kind of local cricket history that rarely makes headlines but runs deep in the memory of a community. Designed to serve both as a functional sporting facility and a versatile gathering space, the building brings together the past and present of this storied patch of turf in a single, well-considered structure. Aongside the oval, a playground and water play areas complete the precinct – a space where families gather, juniors learn the game and the tradition of weekend cricket continues uninterrupted.

Prime Projects delivered a building modest in scale but significant in meaning – crafted with the quality and care that a community landmark, however quietly, always deserves.
